Congratulations! You’ve successfully completed the Future Prison Leaders Programme selection process. Getting to this point is not easy. Competition is strong and the process can be intense. We appreciate all the time, effort and enthusiasm that you’ve put in. Please listen or watch with subtitles the video below to understand what comes next, or read the information below.

Provisional offer

Soon, if you haven’t already, you’ll receive an email asking you to log into the application portal. There you’ll find your provisional offer ready for review. You have 3 days to accept. To avoid delays, please do this as soon as possible.

Online forms  

Once you’ve accepted your provisional offer, you will complete a range of online forms:

  • Pre-appointment form

    Covers details like address history and any criminal convictions. This will take about an hour to complete.

  • National Security Vetting Solution System

    Will contact you to complete an online security questionnaire for your Counter Terrorist Check. It will ask about your residency status and security records.

  • Optima Health

    Will reach out for you to complete an online health questionnaire.

Further action required

In some cases, we’ll need more information or a second attempt at tests before we can send a formal contract. If this applies to you, we’ll contact you to let you know.

If you did not pass either the medical or fitness assessments, you have one more attempt to pass. You have eight weeks from your assessment centre date to book and attend this. Head to the FAQs on preparing for your medical and fitness assessments.

If we couldn’t verify your identification details at the assessment centre, we’ll ask you to log onto the Trust ID System and perform a digital ID documentation check.

  • Once your pre-employment checks are underway, we’ll invite you to an Immersion Day at a prison in your region. During the visit, you’ll meet key people within the prison, be taken on a tour and have an opportunity to ask questions. You’ll be contacted by the programme team to arrange your visit.

  • Once you’ve completed all submissions, and vetting is approved, your formal contract will be ready to sign on the application portal. Congratulations!

  • We appreciate that you might have lots of questions about next steps and the programme. So, we’ve scheduled weekly drop-in sessions – the dates and links will be emailed to you. If you have questions about pre-employment checks, please reach out to Sopra Steria on 0345 241 5358.
